How I draw hair on photoshop

Okay, this is a quick demo to show the stages I go through when I draw hair on photoshop...

whilst drawing this I realised that it is very hard to draw blond hair the way I do... along with it being difficult to draw spiky hair, so this isn't the best example to use...

Steps:

1) scan in drawing or draw basic outline.
2) choose base colour and block coloue everything in apart from important lines.
3) use a darker shade and go over the important lines along with the shadows and darker areas.
4) use a blur or a smudge tool to blend the two shades together for a softer effect.
5) choose an even darker shade and proceed to use a thin brush to make quick strokes over and over again in the necessary areas.
6) repeat step 5 excep with a lighter colour (I had to use white with the blond/yellow hair)
7) NB/ step 6 can be skipped if you perfer the step 5 look, which I kinda do here in this piece...

NB/ I used a graphic tablet here... they're probably the best thing to come out for computers and digital artists in my opinion...

WARNING!

Best not to do blond spiky hair like I did as that was a pain in the behind to do and it didn't come out as well as I would have liked...
